Someone saw the reddit front page today.

I prefer a real fire, and in British Columbia we don't need the rain loop (something isn't right when it's pouring on June 1), but that's a nice song :).

I used to listen to music when I played Go (anything from classical pieces and piano arrangements to heavy metal), but I found that I made less mistakes when not listening to music. I also found that I would often hit the pause button whenever some heavy reading was required, especially if the music had lyrics.

Actually, this thread inspired me to write a little more about connections between Go and music, please see here if you are interested: http://www.allaboutgo.com/articles/go-and-music/

Hmm, good to hear that is happening to others, I thought it was just me :P.

Personally, I don't usually listen to music when I play Go. It subtracts from my limited concentration lol. However, when I do, which is rarely, listen to music while playing Go, I'll listen to Muse! Awesome band.

I can recall listening to "The Resistance" when playing Go once. I felt a little proud when I successfully resisted my opponent's forcing moves after hearing the line "They shall not force us" :P

Bad if the forcing move your opponent plays *needs* to be answered, though.

I usually play with a relaxing music, but very rarely with a song. I prefer to listen to the 'song' of waves on a beach =)

My roommate likes to watch sports with the TV up quite loud, so I've gotten in the habit of putting on some Andy McKee when playing go online.

He's a solo guitarist, who is INSANELY good. No lyrics to distract me from the game, and it's a really soothing/exciting (yes, at the same time) style of music.

Haha, yeah. I would be rocking to the music, then something would happen in the game, and I'd turn it off. Music doesn't work with Go for me.

I've been listening to this playlist during work, and thus, during my Malkovich games.

I listen to christian contemperary, alternative, rock, and rap. I find that listening to my favorite songs gives me control over my emotions when I make a mistake or blunder.

Hmmm, I should really listen to Explosions in the Sky when I play. It seems about perfect for the task... No lyrics, but upbeat/driving enough to keep you going.

I like to listen to Explosions in the Sky, Lone Wolf and Cub, Sigur Ros, Basically anything without lyrics. I find the music in the Background keeps me focused.

I've done this. The problem is that the music is so cathartic that you end up making overplays that you can't back up.

[(cathartic music)+(go)+(too many drinks)]*(throwaway account)=(awesome)
