Leela on 500k playouts (and I am still waiting) does not see the tesuji on F19. Maybe Zen also missed this and thought that it doesn't need to defend there?

My bet on Mi Yuting is still safe (though I'm kinda root for Iyama Yura)

Anyway, there's no need for fourth day as first and second place will be either Park Jungwhan and Mi Yuting while third and fourth place will be either Iyama Yuta or DeepZenGo.

For playing by territory scoring with a 6.5 komi, it might have been better to train by Chinese rules with a komi of 7. A tie result would be a Black win under Japanese rules with 6.5 komi about 50% of the time. Even better, I think, to train under Button Go with a komi of 7, where at its turn each player could take a button worth 0.5 point under Chinese rules. Then if Black took the last dame to score 7 points on the board, White could take the button to win, while if White took the last dame to score 7 points on the board, Black could take the button to win.

Park beat Mi to win the championship.

Zen managed to give a decent performance, but it really exploded spectacularly in the endgame with Park Jeong Hwan.

Anyway, my pick came in last place.

Zen beat Iyama by resignation. Michael Redmond commented that Zen had a 10 point lead toward the end, forcing Iyama to start a ko that he had no hope of winning...

Congrats to anyone who choose Park Jungwhan.
It's my curse that I'll never bet in the right slot, hope Densei-sen this Sunday prove me wrong.

Whilst Iyama did the honourable thing in resigning a clearly lost game, I do wonder if Zen could actually close out the win to counting if he played on. It's a bit weird if it is happy to throw away points when it thinks it is winning by a little, but not a lot. Maybe too much shame if he won that way, even more so in Japanese culture?

That's my favorite scoring system and I would love to see it becoming the norm. Japanese-style scoring is a logical product of tradition, but also a logical anomaly.

Small plug: You can play Go with integer komi, button and area scoring on igGameCenter. I added that option myself, with permission from the site owner, out of dissatisfaction with territory scoring. I also added all the remaining board sizes from 5x5 to 19x19.

The Nihon Kiin was hyping up this event so much but I didn't see a single news from them since the tournament started. Came to check and it's already over.
