Personally I'm more interested in the results from slower-time matches, but I also feel that more games overall will make the fantasy league more interesting. hyperpape pointed out that adding some events could shift the value of certain players, especially since the points are based on a set list. I feel this is all still a kind of trial run, anyway.

I'll reiterate: if there's a particular event you want to see (or don't want to see), let me know!

ez4u wrote:So the women's events are included, and say Rui in Korea or Xie in Japan only cost a dollar, right (typing feverishly into his excel sheet)? :rambo:

only chosen tournaments count, see emeraldemon's first post in this thread

Thank you Laman, I see now where we've gotten confused, I think. Only the events in the first post will count for the league (in the section "upcoming events and points"). I was talking about the possibility of adding more events to that list, but I guess it sounded like I was counting everything on Mr Kin's already.

I've updated the first post to clarify. Communication is fraught with peril.

Ok, I finally got around to writing a script to check everyone's submissions. Araban, Barrauss, & jordus: you made some arithmetic errors I think. Here are the point expenditures I have for everyone so far:

Araban: You reported Park Junghwan as $45, but he costs $48

I've just been slow. The Japanese go scene is the one I know the best, it felt easy to choose people, although I really wish I had an extra point somewhere.

By way of hyping a bit, here's some upcoming events to keep an eye on:

1) Kuksu finals: game 3 is tomorrow, marking the official start of the L19 fantasy go league! Choi Cheolhan and Cho Hanseung are 1-1 at the moment. It looks like we may be able to catch the game live at L19 TV.

2) Myeongin Semifinals: the Myeongin semifinals are best of three, and as of now Baek Hongsuk has one win vs. Lee Changho and Park Yeonghun has one win vs. Lee Taehyun 4d. I enjoy replaying Park Yeonghun's games, I hope he makes it all the way. Second game later this week.

3) At some point over the next few weeks, Iyama Yuta will play Takao Shinji for the chance to challenge Cho U for the title. Cho U has held it for two years in a row, where neither Iyama nor Takao have won the Kisei before.

4) Meijin League table is up: Congrats to Kono Rin, Kim Sujun, and Uchida Shuhei for making it through the prelims into the league. I haven't heard of Uchida Shuhei before, he's only 22, it'll be interesting to see how he performs. First round of the Meijin league starts early December.

Also on the horizon: the second round of the Nongshim Cup, Mingren finals, LG Cup quarterfinals, and Samsung final.

It's not too late to join, just post your picks in this thread!

Completing my picks:

Jiang Weijie - 28 (you'd think he'd be overpriced, on account of the sophomore slump, but I don't care).
Piao Wenyao - 25
Xie He - 16
Qiu Jun - 11
Zhou Ruiyang - 10
Gu Lingyi - 4
Ding Lie - 4
Wang Tao - 2

Choi Cheolhan - 35
Kim Jiseok - 28
Won Sungjin - 23
Cho Hanseung - 14

Iyama Yuta - 44
Cho U - 32
Sakai Hideyuki - 8
Yuki Satoshi - 7
Yoda Norimoto - 4
Kono Rin - 3
Murakawa Daisuke - 1
Ko Iso - 1

I spent all 100 points for Korea, so I have to drop Na Hyun. I'd love to find one more point for him somewhere, but I can't. Ditto for Uchida Shuhei, who I'm calling the best pick not on my list.

The China & Korea picks were based on extensive work with a spreadsheet going down the list and having names pop out at me, then finding people I could afford based on what's left.

Cho Hanseung now leads 2-1. Good news for Laman, Stevenson, and I. Well played by Araban and Hyperpape who backed both horses. Condolences to Marcus, the lone Choi Cheolhan backer not also backing Cho Hanseung.

Quite a lively game. The exchange at 64-65 is interesting.

Thanks for putting that up, prokofiev. Yes, hyperpape, Stevenson, prokofiev, and Laman all have two points. Araban & Barrauss, if you're out there, please fix your pics!

A question for those playing: would you like me to make a new post for each new result, or keep an updated list of scores in the first post, or both? I could even make a semi-automatic spreadsheet in google docs if people prefer.

New post per result is best, imo because it allows commentary and a record of the standings. But do what's easier, I guess.

I agree with hyperpape. The games aren't so frequent that just posting about them will create a flood. If you find automated methods easier, that's great too.

Should we try discussing the games in this thread, or start a "fantasy league game analysis" thread?

Am I too late to make an entry?

I don't actually have time to make real decisions, so:
Gu Li
Lee Sedol
Iyama Yuta

My understanding is that you can enter any time. There may be restrictions on getting points from ongoing elimination events to avoid having extra information because you know how early rounds went, but that shouldn't apply since we're only one day in.

I like the idea of having discussion about the games, I haven't had a chance yet to look at the Kuksu final game. Let's try having the discussion in this thread, and if it feels like announcements and such are getting swamped we can move it. I still don't really know how high-volume this thing will be...

Daniel: you're not to late to enter, you just won't get points for the [edited out Kuksu] Myeongin finals. More generally to anyone wishing to enter: the next scheduled event is the LG Cup quarterfinals on Nov. 21st, so any time before then if you want to get those points.

Two more results came in yesterday: the Myeongin semifinals results. Baek Hongsuk and Park Yeonghun are going to face off in the finals. Judging by the sparsity of his SL page, [sl=BaekHongsuk]Baek Hongsuk[/sl] hasn't won any big titles yet, I wonder if this could be a breakthrough for him.

sgfs of games:

points earned by pro:
Park Yeonghun : 3
Baek Hongsuk : 3
Cho Hanseung : 2

current player standings:
jordus : 6
prokofiev : 5
Laman : 5
Araban : 5
topazg : 3
marcus : 3
lovely : 3
lindentree : 3
hailthorn011 : 3
daal : 3
hyperpape : 2
Stevenson : 2
daniel_the_smith : 0
Barrauss : 0

Araban, I removed Ko Gentae and Na Hyun from your list. Barrauss, I removed Takao Shinji.

OK, I'm off to look at the Park Yeonghun win :study:
