like the politeness of welcoming the opponent, and thanking them at the end, so I'd miss that. But no more from an escapee than a resignation. I'd rather he said thanks for the game and escaped than resigned and left without saying anything.
I would like the ability to simply remove the game from the gamelist though - leaving it hanging grates on my OCD for tying up loose ends

same here.

Unfortunately, the above describes half of my opponents on KGS who finish the game - they don't even say "thx" and just disapear.

Is there really a difference between saying "thx" and nothing at all?

there are people who care, so i do it.
if you think it doesnt mean anything you can try like: "it was a nice game, thank you for playing"
same meaning behind but even better

You may perhaps see how I meant the question when I tell you that I usually write "thank you".

A bit
but worse is when i say 'thank you' they reply 'no problem'

when it's just a normal game, not a teaching or anything i ask my opponent to do me a favor.

Are you really sure they talk about the game as a whole...
Maybe you reconnected or went away for a couple of minutes or was allowed to take back a move...
Or maybe they thought your game was so below standards that they simply thought you thanked them for putting up with you...

never did that, never ask undo even misclick unless in teaching

I said it's just a normal game.
Plus, i don't think to say 'thank you' is such a difficult thing.
