After checking timezones for Europe, US and New Zealand the only interval where people from all these countries should be available is about UTC Sat 20:00-23:00.

* I consider times from 8AM to 1AM acceptable during the weekend.
* People from Asia or Australia probably won't be able to join.
* I'd suggest starting at UTC Sat 20:30

Correction for US times:

KGS+ is having a tournament this Saturday at this time.

Round 6(the last one) of that tournament seems to be from 20:30-21:30

There should be two different meetings anyway. If you miss one, go to the other. Just getting as much study in as possible will be good. If people are busy, they can go the next week.


I think just as long as we get it going, we will be fine. We'll never get started trying to please everyone on a time/day of week. So two meetings should help that.

LiKao's new time suggestion of Saturday 8:30pm UTC looks great to me, I'll be on KGS at then as well - we can have a second meeting as per a couple peoples' thoughts.

Anyway I'll see any confused time travellers from 2014 in about two hours if they make it

I must have missed it, but if I got your post timing right then the time you mentioned (Friday at 6:30pm Pacific) and the times Li Kao mentioned (Saturday 1pm-4pm Pacific) would be great for me. Of course, as others have mentioned, I think individual study plans are the most important, but meeting up once in a while can't hurt either. Oh well, I'll see you when I see you...

Could you manage to edit your first post and put the dates and times of the next session(s) ? It would be easier for the study group to find the important news this way

As I understand for the moment, the lessons could be on friday ? And what is the other day ?

For me, I would like saturday night (europe time), sunday (all day) or monday (all day) (yes I'm selfish )

And when there's a lesson maybe one of the participant could make a global SGF and send it by email to all the group and share it on the forum to have a discussion on ? And the ones who missed the study could also participates this way

I don't know how was the first lesson but it would be cool to have a summary

Would be nice if someone posted something about what happened at the first meeting. As I am in Asia, 8:30pm UTC is early early morning for me so I really don't think I can join.

I want to join. I prefer Asia evening time.

I want to be shodan this year. Maybe I should start a thread about my studying like Sodesune does.

I'll be on tonight at 9pm Eastern/ 6pm Pacific (same time as last friday). I'll probably put up some problems from 501 Tesuji.

Why is it not possible to have news about the study group
I still don't understand times and dates for the meeting...
