EDIT: This got crunched in April 2012 by a little old lady who mistook the gas pedal for the brake pedal. She rear-ended me...twice. On the second impact the cars jammed together. The only reason that she stopped is that my brakes finally stalled her engine. My car was totalled.

The insurance paid off enough to make a down payment on a Ford Focus ST.

Stock image: ( Mine looks exactly like this except the Euro license plate and 18 inch rims. ) It has very crisp handling. My wife found the ride to be too rough and refused to ride in it. I swapped the stock 18 inch rims for 16s. She still refuses to ride more than 10 miles in it.

The Focus ST is a nice car - I contemplated getting one. I got a Renault Clio Sport instead, beacause the saleswoman forgot to charge me VAT. (I bought a new one, and in the UK VAT is charged on new car sales. It was 17.5% at the time, so a decent saving.)

She called me up the next day, crying, to try to persuade me to pay more, but I was already legal owner the car by then. So she was too late.
