True. But when the commenter doesn't label his hidden comment, the players can't read it.

Hmm, I think this is not inconsistent with Violence's I don't want to focus on territory. Backing off here would result in Black playing S7 I think, making the right side worth less and enlarging Black's corner.
Now White could still make a base in the top corner and attack Black's splitting stone. I think this suits Violence. Furthermore, his choice to connect the top cutting point in the bottom right Joseki is now more efficient because of the upcoming running fight.
If I wanted to start a fight, I would exactly play like this.

To Sodesune:

I don't remotely know what the correct play is here, but your logic would seem to indicate that Black's pincer was wrong, not that White's slide was correct. If S7 is indeed a serious threat to take away potential on the right, then I don't see how allowing for a possible R17 S16 exchange addresses that. Personally, S7 looks to me to be a end game move that I wouldn't want to play for quite a while.

my group on top right is safe from attack because of a or b meiai.
now let me think how he will answer my attack.
if c: then d
if e: then f
(edit: above points are not final..i am just brainstroming points. i will start to read seriously after his move and make my final decision)
he can try to stablize by attaching to my stone ...but i dont think he will get good result out of that. it's very kyuish.
for whatever happens ...my last move is pretty good move that spilts the white group. i think is was pretty big mistake for him to give me such point.
if he happens to tenuki "g" will be a good point of attack.

Will you play the exchange 2-3 or are you going to attack whites triangle directly if he first plays 2?

Will you play the exchange 2-3 or are you going to attack whites triangle directly if he first plays 2?
If I were playing White I#d like to try something like this or capping directly without the shoulderhit (4) at 6:

let me split him...and he will be in serious trouble.

And that's why. (I don't know about serious trouble, though. ;) )

And I might play further from White's wall. White has room for a play at "a".

I prefer this for White's previous play.

Note #13 is unhidden now. :)

Yes, after my play Black S-07 is awkward for White. That is why I would have preferred for White to approach the corner from the top side instead. :)

No, I was just saying that if Violence wants to start a fight this is a good way to to do it and that I would not want to make a framework on the side, if I could easily be undercut - now or later. The fourth line Ogeima has enough weaknesses on his own : D
I never intended to mark something wrong or right, I was just telling my thoughts ; )

post scriptum: Yeah, like Bill Spight said, with S7 in mind, respectively with not connecting this cut, the right side is pretty much uninteresting for both sides. On the other hand, if you can't calculate with points there, it's makes the perfect battleground =D

Thats the thing, I don't really see how the slide helps in starting a fight, since Black didn't have to pincer here. He could have simply taken the corner with a 3-3. If black pincered, he would have to think that a fight there favored him. Since the slide still gives the option to Black whether to fight or not and doesn't help with the threat of Black S7 if Black takes the corner simply, I don't see how its a superior move to what Bill mentioned.
