I've added it to our todo list :)

it should do the same thing as F11, but it does not. This is confusing.
F11 and this button should do exactly the same thing.

- With F11, it's better, but it is still not full-screen.
See attached screen shot, and all the white space at the bottom:

- The "balloon help" on the buttons on the upper left have a bug --
they sometimes stay on, and I don't know how to get rid of them. See the same screenshot above.

Thanks! :)
I see what you mean. So what's happening is because you have a 4:3 monitor, it's having a hard time filling the vertical resolution without sacrificing the game controls and chat on the right. So there are two options, one is really easy, and one is not so easy.

The easy solution is to change the zoom on your browser (ctrl-scrollwheel), this will shrink down the stuff on the right and left and the board should fill in the space. I think you'll need to go down to ~66% for it to fill the screen.

The other option is for me to figure out how to layout the stuff on the right in 1/3 the space that it's taking up now (the board needs to grow by 100 pixels, and the stuff on the right is almost 300 pixels wide, on your display). That's a little trickier, since there is a lot of stuff that operates in that space (analyze move trees, conditional move trees (which are very different).. so let me know if the zoom trick works for you :)

Yeah that's an annoying bug.. we'll get that fixed up. For an immediate fix, you can just mouse over the fullscreen button again and it should go away I think. Sorry about that :(

anoek, thanks, the current situation is not so bad.
I don't like any zoom -- it degrades the quality of all the graphics. :)

anoek, this is gIGo's full screen mode, 4:3, from the last millennium.
They use tabs. But I've always found their "Caps" captured stones confusing, just like CGoban's :) --
(Incidentally, when gGo went to gIGo, we lost gGo's thick current-move marker,
and got gIGo's ugly, skinny, non-anti-aliased circle;
I'm so glad you guys brought back gGo's thick, anti-aliased current-move circle! ) --

anoek, I've recorded a small video clip of stone clicks -- I forget your email.
How to send the mpg file to you (488 Kbytes) ?

Very cool EdLee! Shoot them over to anoek@nova.gs and I'll get them wired in :)

Very cool - although I will point out that it's not fullscreen either! Look at all that border space wasted (40 pixels!), and a title bar up top? Another 20 pixels of wasted space! :) But yeah it looks pretty good. I think we can improve ours more, I'll play with it some more after I get some bugs squashed.

  • Totally free (no premium / pay to play garbage)
As far as I know the main functionality on Kaya.gs and almost everything on KGS & OGS is free as well. There are some benefits for premium members - but imho most premium memberships are not paid for because of the awesome additional features but to support the servers. How do you plan to maintain the server - pay it yourself, advertisement, premium membership or completely by donations?

We're not really worried about it at this point. If it grows to the point of needing to figure out how to have it pay for itself, then we'll talk with our users and figure out how that should work. For the time being though we're happy just paying for it ourselves, it's not really a big deal.

Updates!

We've had a few actually, bringing some fun new features and a whole lot of polish to the site!
  • Seek Graphs for finding open games
  • Every user now has their own game, review, sgf, and demo board library that they can use how they see fit. (You can also see other peoples libraries by visiting their profiles)
  • Tournaments are now out of Beta (We'll be launching some shortly and posting in the tournaments forum, stay tuned!)
  • Full site translation into Polish
  • Private chats (finally)
  • Downloading of SGFs for reviews is now possible
  • Demo boards are now saved to your library automatically
  • Lots of tuning for tablet and mobile device usage
  • Countless bug fixes and UI tweaks
Coming up next
  • Tagging and organizational abilities for your library
  • Group libraries
  • Bookmarking / following games of interest
  • Android app beta
  • More time control options
Lots of fun stuff, the site is progressing quite well if we do say so our selves!

Awesome feature - it's enough to get me to try some games there in real time!

Some awesome feature were added yesterday:

Games

Undo support has been added.
Player and spectator chats have been merged
Lag and incorrect clock compensation has been fixed, clocks should now be very accurate.

Reviews

You can now transfer control of a review to another player - select the player from the list and click 'Give control'
Time Control & Interface

Added Japanese Byo-Yomi support
Made all time controls fully adjustable
Challenges may now be made from any screen with the new popup challenge dialog
Challenge settings are now remembered per-speed settings, so your favorite blitz, live, and correspondence settings will be preserved independently.

Site Themes

An initial dark theme is now available to use. This theme is still rough around the edges and needs a lot of tweaks, however is already much easier on the eyes at night.
The default font has been switched back to Helvetica. If you liked the "new" font (Proxima Nova), you may switch back to it under the new site font selection interface.

User Profile

You may now optionally list your real name on your profile. (Default to off)
You may now optionally provide some text about yourself on your profile page
Preferences and user profile edit page have been merged to reduce confusion

Awesome work guys!
