Why? Can you think of a simpler, more elegant system of monitoring overtime when you have no digital clocks available?

Just one minor correction: the german internet bundesliga uses 60 & 15/5, not 20/5.

Well, one thing I never understood is that unused time is discarded. It just makes the players unnecessarily prolong the game.

I feel sure the BGA will be delighted if you want to pay to replace the 30 mechanical clocks I'm currently storing (don't step anywhere in my room! One floorboard moves, half the damned clocks start ticking again ..!), plus the same number a couple of times over that other people are storing, with digital clocks ...!

But I'm still not sure it qualifies as "simpler". :)
