Consider that having people to record all the games is a lot of work to do. Consider also that this is *as far as I know* the first world championship where they record more than one game per round.

Hi everybody ..
I have a big problem with the game Lou Yuxiang - Fernando Aguilar because... there are several really weird moves that I can't believe a 7Dan like Aguilar would do or even the player Lou Yuxiang could given he is 5d. Is quite weird after the opening... please take a look to that game!

When I was at the World Amateur in 2002 they recorded eight games per round. I'm not sure the staff were paid, so that was probably all they could arrange. They spread their attention around--the top games naturally got recorded, but they made sure everyone in the tournament got at least one or two game records.

But when what they recorded was wrong, that's even worse...

well they could easily placed an overhead camera and that would take care of everything, including staffs expense, and accuracy, and entertainment too, since people won't have to gather around the table to watch games in progress, that' would be unprofessional.

There were 30 boards in use simultaneously, so you would need 30 overhead cameras and 30 people to operate them. Last time I went, in 1998, they were only recording about 8 per round. The curious thing you have now is that players went and recorded their own games on the computers provided, so maybe some of the games come froim there.
Best wishes.

He played as a 5d in the tournament but European Go Database listed him as 5k. As I played him I can say for sure that he's certainly not 5k at least

I hope they update this as this gives me less gor lol

(Also shouldn't the Japanese and Chinese Taipei representatives get gor as a 7d? They are easily stronger then 2600, makes it though for european participants

)

All ranks on my site were taken from nihon kiin site. It seems that they made a mistake with Vietnam player. I will send a correction to EGD.
