Meh. I think anything that's good with pokemon in it would be be better with pokemon not in it.

I'd love a good Pokemon roguelike XD.

Personally I tried Nethack, but it wasn't for me. FTL was good, but I suck too much to beat it, now I only play Desktop Dungeons every now and again, but thats not strictly a roguelike.

You are an Anime Character- Unspoiled ascension

I guess I would have been classed as Pro years ago (I had one wishless, polypileless genocideless Tourist but my favourite challenge was still the vegetarian Archaeologist). But there were phenomenal players that made me look weak, even back then. So maybe 3p or so :P

I stopped playing Nethack a while after they stopped updating it, but it still has a special place in my heart. Tried SlashEM and enjoyed it, won once but the love was gone. Then I got an Angband character to about level 35 but found that I was treating the game as a chore and not enjoying it, so that save file is probably still lying around somewhere a decade later.

Have tried ToME a bit and it's excellent, but not my cup of tea.

In recent years I have played quite a bit of Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup and have a handful wins and a couple of 15-rune games. I think it's a great game and the community around it are fantastic, but we're having some time apart ;)

[edit to add: Brogue is superb. I need to play more Brogue, but having just discovered Go I think that is unlikely now.]

The "simplest" way to beat FTL is to get a "build" where your ship has a good teleporter, cloaking and at least two good offensive crew members (mantis is best, rocks are good enough, even if too slow.) Then the final boss is kind of easily approachable by timing correctly the cloaking and the away parties.

Mh, gotta try that sometimes.

I can't even specify why I can't beat it, the first phase of the boss is easy enough, but in phase 2 everything just slowly crumbles away....

I like that I immediately thought your name was familiar, and it took me a bit to figure out it was from the Crawl forums. Cool seeing a small world where hobbies overlap. =)

Haha, cool!

I mentioned this newly discovered crossover to my wife, who did not seem impressed - she's as nerdy as I am, just less at peace with it :P

ObRoguelike: Hoplite. It's tiny (a 7 Day Roguelike), clever and fiendishly addictive - especially now they've added a bit more replay value.
