I really don't understand Kono's strategy in that game: he let white make perfect big solid corners on the left side and made weird loose corners on the right both of which Fan then lived inside.

27 was a big mistake for black, 28 was very painful.

Yeah, it seemed to me black got scant compensation of that single outside stone for white trashing his big territory. What would be better? Attach on top? Or maybe one point jump? With the latter if you answer the invasion with the cap and white does the same 3-3 attach it seems a bit harder to live, though you can probably either do that or get the connection under. But even before that I didn't like Kono's 3 stones on the lower right corner/side: they looked so close and inefficient given there was still big corner aji inside. Maybe bearable if there was some strong attack on Fan's jumpy out group, was there a good time to attack it, maybe with cap?

This game had a similar feeling as the previous one. Fan, holding white again, took a good chunk of territory at the bottom by move 44 and then protected the upper left with move 46 before starting his invasion. Kim misplayed a ko threat on 109 to fall behind and couldn't catch up.

The 6-game winning streak is a new record in a single Nongshim Cup.

In yesterday's game kono should has played 27 on the white stone (4th line).
And today was a very impressive game too. 54,56 and 58 were good. 109 was a mistake. Even if kim jiseok played difficult moves in the endgame it wasn't enough for win. White was still winning by 3 or 4 points.

Easy win for Fan tingyu, 7 in a row. Japan really needs to change something soon for win i think.

I think they already sent their best players to the Nongshim Cup this year (the same as last year). If they don't have any brilliant talents in the next few years, I doubt this will change.

Perhaps this year's result is only because Fan Tingyu is too good in his games with Korean players. Let's see if Park can stop him, or it will be the first time that Korea is eliminated before the last stage!

Yeah it seems almost finished for japan and korean. I think park can win against fan t based on their head to head , but fan tingyu's condition is really good these days so maybe he can do it hahaha. Btw fan tingyu is my favorite player hahah so i'm really happy for him.

This Nongshim Cup is reminiscent of what's happening in individual world championships this year, where China is dominating. The sheer depth they have shown is crazy, where Korean players have been terribly inconsistent outside Park and Shin.

Park is known to be weak in critical moment like this, and also Fan Tingyu already beat him convincingly in the Ing final, so Fan might have a psycho advantage.

If Fan indeed beat both Park and Iyama, I wonder if the sponsor will continue the tournament next year.

IMO Park's condition is not really good recently, and Shin still needs a little more to be considered a top 5. Too bad that Lee Sedol lost early, his experience is still useful in international tournaments (not against Ke Jie though).
