Are habits in themselves something bad? How about getting good habits?

I tend to view even good habits as detrimental in the long run. This is just because they're routines and not because the good things they bring are turning sour. If I continue something habitual for more than two years I get anxious and feel hemmed in by myself. My mind feels like it's being turned to stone and I get concerned about what I'm missing. It's not a rational appraisal, it's a just a worry.

I see. I'm quite the opposite. If I establish habits that coincide with my goals then I know my life is going in the direction I want and that's a good thing. At least that's how I choose to see it :)

I'm 44. I learned the rules of go a month or so after my 43rd birthday.

My goals are to be 1 dan by age 50, 2 dan by age 60, 3 dan by age 70, 4 dan by age 80, 5 dan by age 90, etc. If I take after my father's side of the family, where people tend to live until their mid-90's, I just might make 5 dan. :)

Interesting question, especially concerning the "how old do you feel" part.

At the beginning of last February, I passed a test at my local gym aptly called "Fit Test" which gives a very approximate "body age".

I was 28, a few days from being 29 ; my body age was 59.

That came as a shock, even as a gross approximation (I was very overweight even though I certainly wasn't mordibly obese or anything ; flexibility-wise, I received decent grades and my abdominal strength was only slightly under average) but still I felt doubly determined to begin getting in shape.

Right now, after nearly 4 months of training, I've lost over 15 pounds and my personal trainer is convinced I'd score under 50 in another Fit Test, and I'm going to train even harder until October, when my wife is supposed to give birth.

So how old do I feel ? I don't know : I feel more energetic than I've been in ages, and at the same time becoming a father makes me feel a lot older. I guess that evens out.

Im 22. People who see me the first time often have the impression that Im looked like 26 or so. However, if they just hear my voice without meeting me in person, they would bet I am at most a highschool dude.

How do I feel? Personally, I would classify me as a kidult - I feel like how I did 10 years ago lol; i.e., an adult that has pretty loads of kid's hobbies, eg, manga, anime, origami, computer games... =]

I am 16 and I feel like 16. Anyway, I want to be 18 years old. I just hate everyone to treat me like a child - it is annoying :(

I want to be 18 years old too. I hate it when everyone treats me like a senile old man - so what if it's true... ;-)

I just hit my 53rd this weekend.

My wife spoiled me on Saturday: a 1.5 hour massage ( from a legitimate pro masseuse ), followed by dinner at a zagat rated place ( a fine crusted salmon entree, desert ho-hum ) and a concert afterwards by the LA Philharmonic ( a decent piece by Mendelsohn, a despicable modern piece by an alleged composer whose name I will not allow to sully my keyboard, and a very fine presentation of Mozart )

Yesterday I spent digging holes for a foundation ( The auger on the gasoline-powered post-hole digger got stuck solid, and I lost my grip on the digger, AND the throttle jammed open. So it sat there wedged in the ground, spinning around like some ultra-modern kenetic sculpture intended to demonstrate the futility of post-Rousseauean ambition, while I made repeated attempts to loosen the throttle by hitting it with a stick as it spun, dodging in and out to avoid being whacked by the flying handles.)
But I eventually got them dug, and spent today mixing and pouring concrete.

After two days of construction work, I feel 60.

I am 58.
