I had this happen with another app, and I don't actually know what causes it. It probably wasn't GoGrinder's fault, though. May be a good idea to restart the device every so often to clear up memory. It seems generally recommended after installing a bunch of stuff. To restart, hold down the home and sleep buttons until the Apple logo appears.

I have had to reinstall this program yet again on my ipad2. The program is working now but when I try to reinstall my problem sets I am getting invalid id errors. Anyone else having this issue?

That's because the problem bundles only hang around on the server for a few weeks. Some users have had concerns about copyrighted problem collections getting out, so I delete the problems from the server every once in a while.

I understand somewhat the copywrite concerns, though I thought that was the purpose for the 8 character id. For me this means I will no longer be using the program any more. It was already aggravating enough to type in the Ids every time I had to reinstall the program (which I seem to need to do every few months), it definitely isnt worth my time to have to re upload the problem sets every time the program bombs out. You might want to think about whether the copywrite concern outweighs a negative user experience.

What is it that causes you to reinstall every few months? It sounds to me like that's the real issue. Is anyone else having this problem? This is the first I've heard about it.

This greatly lowers the value of the app. It isn't mentioned in the description, either. Please rethink this procedure or, if you decide to follow through with it, add it to the description because it's a crucial limitation. The ability to (legitimately) share collections was one of the main reasons why I bought the app (I shelled out the money after I saw the post about the Russian collection here).

If people want to get copyrighted problem collections, then they can easily enough do this already. They don't need to pay for GoGrinder for this. In fact, those people aren't likely to pay for the app in the first place, so the only ones that do get irritated are your customers.

In my opinion, a better way to handle this is that you look at specific collections upon receiving a complaint or a report (a notice could be added). This shouldn't happen often and legally I don't think you're required to act preemptively only because of the mere possibility that copyrighted materials could be shared.

Offer Go problem sets as in-app purchases

I'm posting here to try and contact Tim Kington. I wasn't aware that an update had been posted since 2010. But Go grinder appears dead on sourceforge, and the bug fix I submitted has not been implemented, and there are open issues from 4+ years ago.

I have been tinkering around with the code and been looking at adding a SRS algorithm for a while. Can Tim please contact me or can someone help me contact Tim so I can figure out to what extent I my contributions can be used? I don't really want to fork the project if I don't have to. Anyways, good luck to all.

The project on sourceforge is not dead, there just hasn't been anything I want to change lately. You say I ignored your bug fix, but that isn't true. If you read the thread, the last post was a question from me about whether a certain change fixed your problem. I wasn't going to release the changes until I knew whether that helped or not, and you never responded.

Thanks.

I guess I must have missed that?

Well in that case I won't be taking over any projects. You can delete those messages on the sourceforge forums if you like, I don't know how to do it.

Anyways I'll still be doing a SRS module and I'll find some way to send you a patch, it's really a fascinating way to study tsumego~

thanks for keeping it alive, it's my favorite program!

Oh, if you, Tim, are here, too, then maybe I can ask a question?

I d’loaded and installed GoGrinder on my iPhone 1 (iOS 3.1.3), and it won’t run. Just silently dies on launch. Any idea what I can do to find out why?

TIA, Tom
