Yay, just got my first draw

.
Bit shameful though.

Pretty cool, I've still yet to get one. Think how easily you would have won if you'd been spending all your money correctly and didn't have those 8 minerals left over.

I don't understand how that strat succeeds when it's done in plain view. I've had people make that exact formation on Xel'Naga Caverns before. All I do is immediately attack the top Pylon, and I can get it down and kill the Cannon with Probes pretty comfortably.

It's a one time thing really. I think it's pretty hard to stop if it's the first time you see it especially when you think the proxy buildings are gates instead of a forge, but after that it becomes pretty cake. Still fun to try once in a while though since I get the feeling a lot of people still aren't too aware of it. I still use the cannon rush that Inca used in GSL S1 on Metalopolis occasionally and I think I have a 90% win rate from that

.

That final was ridiculous. I expected one team to completely roll over the other, but that's not what happened at all.

Hey guys, I just bought SC2 a few days ago and starting to learn out.
Today I played my first game(s) with another person - Araban. He taught me some basic BO for Protoss, like fast-expand and 4 gate rush.
After our practice-session I played some games that decied my ranking, ended up going 3-2 and went to gold. Got some strong opponents after (1 from Platinum, nr #1 in Gold and nr #4 in Gold). So far I think I'm 5-6 in the gold league.
I mostly lose to some cheese-rushes cause I have no idea that they are coming even though I scout.. (I'm not really sure what everything my opponent is building means yet lol.. I'm kind of figuring out which building makes what for Zerg =P).
Anyway the game seems fun and I hope I can stay in gold league and climb out of it soon enough (if I actually will find time to play enough, still quite busy with Uni/Go hehe..)
Araban enterted me into the go ranking-ladder.. If anyone from EU ever wanna play, just hit me up. My account is 'fredda', can also find me on KGS as 'fredda'.

Welcome, Fredrik! It's good to see our little dualistic community growing. Right now most of us are on the NA servers, but hopefully we'll gather more and more from the EU.
By the way, once you get all the mechanics and basic habits down pat, I'd highly recommend Mr. Bitter's
12 Weeks with the Pros to see several top-tier takes on strategy in the three Zerg matchups.

I can't help but wonder how much it cost him to get all that coaching...SC2 pros definitely cost a lot more to get lessons from than Go pros

A couple thousand bucks, I'd imagine. But I'm more baffled when young kids get lessons. What kind of a parent is not only rich but willing to spend hundreds of dollars so their kid can spend some time learning a video game? I mean, it's great of course, but wow.

I was under the impression that the Mr. Bitter stuff now funds itself from ads and donations etc. What he's doing is pretty good (especially when you play zerg

). Was really good to see Idra on. I kind of disliked him from his general bm persona and insta-quits when going behind (like in the Jinro game) but he was really good as a coach. Everyone that has been on has been good.

Also, the IdrA vs. Jinro showmatch is in 1 hour at time of this posting, whee. I predict Jinro taking it. I got hit pretty hard with a flu, so I've been watching a lot of streams and it hasn't been too bad. Good thing this Monday's off for school.

It's times like these that I'm thankful for the go community. The last day over at teamliquid have been completely stupid. Nothing but constant whining over all the stuff they get for free/cheap. Huk advances in the GSL: complain about the new caster, and her accent, or her figure. Great showmatch series between two awesome players: complain about the casters, the audio sync, Idra's gg timing, the physical and metaphorical size of iNControL's head. New Starcraft league announced, with six figure prizes, games five days a week and free streams: complain about EVERYTHING.
It's almost an entire community made up of nothing but spoiled children. It's like the old story about how Eskimos supposedly have 50 words for snow, except teamliquid has 50 words for complaining.

Amen fwiffo, amen. Reddit, unfortunately, hasn't been much better handling the matter either.
