I've posted instructions on how to vote for/order the Starcraft keys in the geekhack.org thread.

Two games that show why tanks + Xelnaga Caverns makes for long games :)

I feel like Day9's most recent Newbie Tuesday http://day9tv.blip.tv/file/4890848/ applies very well to go, and probably covers the most important aspects of improvement. Watch a game over lunch, play a few games a week, and try to fit in some tsumego before bed. The whole stuff about study partners/social interaction seems really spot-on, too.

I was listening to that at work and was thinking the exact same thing.

Wow I guess a lot of people on here play Starcraft also. Is there a poll yet about what race everyone plays? I wonder which race would make the most sense to a go player.. or if there are style similarities between go and starcraft.

Well, CSamurai expressed that protoss appealed to the go player in him, since observers could best approximate 'perfect information'. I, on the other hand, favor Zerg because it allows me to both play reactively and to harass, to take control and guide the course of the game. So it really does seem to depend on how you draw the analogy. Additionally, in lieu of a poll, check the other starcraft thread. It has a link to a go player league, which, I think, shows the races of all of the players.

I play Protoss because all the units are baller. Except the Zealot, which I think is completely overrated.

Yeah, I also play Protoss. The zealot is good in the crazy Korean 4-gate rush for PvP... otherwise I like Stalkers/Voids usually.

I play Protoss, which I chose because the units and abilities seemed fun and interesting, especially force fields. I can't believe fwiffo doesn't like Zealots--I'm in love with them! They tear to pieces anything they come in contact with. Now, actually getting them to come in contact with something is easier said than done, but that's the fun part.

I only like Protoss if the opponent is not Protoss, 4 gate durrrrrrrrrrr.

That's my issue with them exactly. It's not so much that I think they're bad, I just think they're overrated. They're too easily neutralized for how bad-ass they're supposed to be. People talk about their "insane" DPS without considering how easily they're kited. Melee units always have a way lower effective DPS unless they're super-fast like speedlings. Hopefully the fix to charge in 1.3 (and the build-time nerf for stim) will fix them.

It feels to me like charge is underused. If speedling speed is almost a requirement for zerg no matter what build you're going, why would a similar boost to zealots not be as key? Obviously, there are differences in the favor of speedlings, like the speedling boost works out-of-combat. However, charge reduces the single biggest downside of zealots, so I'm always surprised when I see a zealot-heavy army without it, or even one that researches blink.

Charge is twice as expensive in both gas and minerals compared to stim or zergling speed, and requires an extra building, which makes it a lot harder to get early. For metabolic boost, you already have the spawning pool, and a techlab is a lot cheaper than a twilight council. All the follow-up twilight tech is gas-heavy, so squeezing in a 200/200 upgrade is hard. If you're going early twilight, blink is usually what you want to get first because it's cheaper and you can make better use of it in the early game. There are lots of people using blink stalker openings; I don't know of anyone using fast chargelots. Later in the game though, the charge+storm is amazing.

(Of course, I am not strong enough to be talking about any of this, but it makes sense to me).
