Hi PlaySlow

:b11: Your game is not decided here.

:w12: Letting B get both extensions from his shimari is quite nice for B.
However, your point is also big.
Your game is not decided here.

:b13: Your game is not decided here.

:w16: P3. You profit in the corner and your K4 stone sits at a nice place as a pincer.

:w18: - :w22: You force him to make good eye shape.
Compare to if you just P3 @ :w16: -- how can he get this result ?
Maybe P3 to press him low is better.

:w26: He ignored your :w24: , why don't you punish him there ?
Why are you following him (your opponents, in general) around like a lost puppy ?

:w30: D18.

:w40: C8.

:w46: Strange shape. ( Local candidates: P15, P10 hane, Q9 clamp. )

:w54: D9, the other atari.

Major comment: Black never tried to win this game. You did well.

Meta-comment: EdLee and I sometimes agree and sometimes don't. We also emphasize other things. Wherever our comments agree, it's likely true. Where we disagree, you can decide for yourself (you should of course always do that but it's sometimes more efficient to believe your reviewers).

Not so detailed review of a lopsided game:

From 99 to 121 Black plays G2 at any time and captures your bottom group. You can not escape or make a second eye, right?

You are right, it seems, I was so sure in the heat of the game that it was alive but now i cannot find any sequence..
@Edlee
:w26: I answered his move to avoid complications and didn't know how to punish the tenuki. And I thought in most of the joseki variations starting with my :w26: sente would be mine again.
:w54: Hmm, i didnt understand it clearly

Opening 1-41: very good, you are leading

Middle game 42-95: bad, study the connection pattern, study "small gaps" at SL and above all: don't try saving useless stones!
(fortunately white let you of the hook)

Late middle game 96-126: very good reduction of White's sphere of influence by attacking his group

Endgame: perfect timing to start the endgame at 127! Good sense of endgame. Of course 137 was a capital oversight, but again White let you off the hook.

Yeah, we have tried a more excessive plan but it was not realistic. I am out of house from 8 am to 8 pm because of my work schedule and married, so have to be realistic!
Next month bet is set. Finishing Tesuji again (i have finished it 8 months ago), 15 minutes problems daily, 4 slow games/week (20 minutes minimum), 1 hour working on pro games/weekly (mostly on fuseki and mid game fighting).
We did not set which pro player to review. Any ideas would be appreciated! Since i feel comfortable with Low Chinese opening, maybe it's better to have someone who uses (or used) LC frequently..

I have started playing again my weekly games after 1 week of problem solving. The game has no comments, i was black. I used the advantage of him jumping 1 line further. Followed the "Kageyama" principles: Cut if u can, connect if u can.
I also feel my reading is better than last month.. Last month i would have answered his w:16 with M4.
However I did not like the shape i made at the bottom, especially B:15.. But i am happy with the results against 8 kyus so far. 4 win 1 loss!
Somehow i could not show sgf again...

What pros are you studying?

Here's a few recommendations I've gathered from this forum (along with some notes). Speaking of which...I know what I'm doing Saturday evening...

Takemiya Masaki - “Cosmic” (Natural) style. Very influenced/center oriented player
Fujisawa Hideyuki (Shuko) - Large scale, thick moves
Cho Chikun - Model territorial player. Can switch between different territorial styles. Dislikes large-scale josekis.
Otake Hideo - Good shape, abhors vulgar style. Comes from behind. Solid play.
Kobayashi Koichi - Territory. Reduces game by simplifying positions.
Rin Kaiho - Originally territory, later became fighting/influence oriented.
Sakata Eio - Deep reader.
Ishida Yoshio - Good at counting and accurate yose
Kato Masao - Powerful attacker early in career. Later, very good at endgame.
Lee Changho - Older games. Natural, while taking territory. Gives opponent what they want while still winning.

I started working on kato masao's games because of his chinese openings at the moment. But reading your comments maybe i would try Shuko maybe because of thick moves.
