Hi!!

I will post some major accomplisments of my improvement and what I'm studying right here! :)

http://elcaminoaldan.blogspot.com.es/

It's in english and spanish. English written in italics! Feel free to comment!!! I don't want to feel alone :P

Right now I'm 7k in KGS, I used to be 3-4 kyu some years ago, so it's a great moment to learn bad style and learn new things! I wish I could! :)

4 years ago I was much stronger. Nowadays I'm 3 stones weaker.

Any idea on catching up?

Hi lbalddy, Welcome (back) to Go and the forum.

When you say you were "3k" a few years ago,
and "6k" now, what do you mean, exactly ?

At these levels, things are still quite fluid. The difference may not be as big as it seems.

Also, how do you know how accurate your previous level was, and how accurate your current estimate level is ?

What makes you feel so certain that you are 3 stones worse than before ?

For example, do you know how many stones from pro were you a few years ago,
and how many stones from pro are you now ?

For this discussion, let's say 1 kyu means about 7 stones from pro.

If your estimate level of 3k a few years ago is fair,
it means you were 9 stones or more from pro at that time.

6k is also 9 stones or more from pro.

( So is 15k, but it's fairly certain you are much better than that.
See, when we get to SDK levels, sometimes it's not so easy to tell the differences. )

My level was accurate, I was 5k EGF which translates into 3k KGS. My rank was stable.

And I played giving handicap with people that i play even nowadays ... :/

Hi all!!!

I've been playing and I think that I'm recovering some strenght! But I know that I make TONS of mistakes yet, I think that black could have played much better in this game. Would anyone mind to review it a bit? :)

You make a broken shape for yourself with the exchange :w24: - :b25:.
How about nobi F12 directly instead.

- :w14: ( in relation to :b13: ) first time I see this shape. :)

The :w52: - :b57: sequence leaves you with another broken shape.
How about E8 directly for :w52: ?

- :w68: bad wedge. How about L6 hane in front directly.

I can't understand what "a broken shape" means. I was worried about the cut, I wanted to attack two weak groups. But nobi is better, if he cuts it's a better exchange for me.

- In 14, a one point jump was better. This was silly, but funny. :P

- E8 was better. Nice. :) =) =) =) NICE! :P

- Mmm... Nice too. :)

Thanks so much!! I need this kind of tactical commentary to improve. But, what the hell is a broken shape!? XD

Broken shape is when you are being cut by your opponent, but you aren't cutting your opponent in return. You're split in two, they are not. The closer together everything is, the worse this is, as any moves your opponent plays threaten followups on both sides, and you can only fix one.

I don't understand how 24 is broken shape: when he talks about that Ed usually means the broken keima: http://senseis.xmp.net/?LameDuGo#toc2. It is a bad exchange though.
