Me too! This is my first Go congress! I think there are at least half a dozen others from my go club in Boston going as well.

I'll be there.
Sadly, I know many who won't. I guess NYC is too expensive, especially without a meal plan.

I'm planning on being there. I've always wanted to go to a congress that was not tied to a college campus.

I live in NYC, so I'll be there. (Although living in NYC didn't stop me from going to the California, NC, or Washington congresses.)

I'll be there.
Looking forward to meeting all of you.
I love New York, even if I am poor.
Eating there can be both good and cheap, but lodging is rather expensive.
Currently I'm planning on staying in a (rather shabby) youth hostel, but if anyone is willing to cooperate on an upgrade, I'd be happy to hear from you.

Sadly, I won't be able to make it this year. It's not about money, and I was really looking forward to Manhattan, but there's too much else going on at home this year.
I hope you all have a great time, and...may you all win

Eric - Since we are (friendly) Go Congress rivals, I find this unacceptable and demand that you reconsider.
Kidding, of course. Sorry you can't make it this year.

I signed up as soon as registration opened. I was the fourth person to sign up. I admit to having reservations about there not being a meal plan. It will mean less of the spontaneous interaction that takes place over meals at a usual Congress with a cafeteria setting. Even if you sit down alone people tend to join you in a cafeteria if they know you, and sometimes even if they don't. I imagine that if one is not proactive about making plans to meet up with people that one will have quite a few lonely moments as a result. I'm expecting to pay a little more for food than I would with a meal plan, but I also expect to get better and more interesting food than I would in a college cafeteria..
I understand the concerns about the expense of this Congress. Because I am in New Jersey I won't have the expense of air fare, so that helps make up for the high cost of food and housing. I'll be taking a train in and out of the city, but that won't cost all that much.
As an East Coast person this Congress is going to run me about the same amount of money as last year's Congress in Tacoma, for which air fare was very expensive.
I'm looking forward to seeing the 19 x 19 crowd in NYC.
