Canadian Byo-yomi

Good morning.

I have a dude with types of byo-yomi, specificaly with canadian style and japanese style. My question is simple, What is style of byo-yomi do more long a game?

I am playing more in IGS now and I think that my games with 1 minute of principal time with 10 minutes for 25 stone make me spend more time that style japanese in KGS (30 minute of principal time and 5 byo-yomi of 30 seconds). I know that the games is so diferent, but I want know your opinion.

Hi Darsey, Good morning. I don't understand your question --
could you explain it more ?

For any byo-yomi time control --
if you want a long game, then set a long time setting (for example, 40 minutes for 20 moves);
if you want a short game, then set a short time setting (for example, 10 seconds for 1 move).

Ouch, sorry.

I want ask if one style of byo-yomi determine play faster that another. Because I thought that when I play with canadian byo-yomi my games last longer.

It is not just that. The psychological aspect of perceived time remaining plays a big part.

The average time per move is one factor. It's a start.

I suspect that for less disciplined players, formally equivalent Canadian time will take longer. Experienced players are often good at using their whole time in Japanese byo-yomi, but the rest of us play too fast on most moves. With Canadian timing, we could then use a few minutes on a hard move, but with Japanese, we're still limited to a period or two, no matter how fast we played the previous moves.
