Hilarious because: The 'office attire' and the presence of many large office plants in the background. And the casual 'let's play this at 120 degree angles from each other' pose.

There is an old, well-known picture. I have a copy somewhere but not in digital form. I think it was an add, maybe for Camel cigarette, and maybe in Life magazine. I found it hilarious.
Does anyone know which I mean and have a copy?

There's this rather nice reference in a High-brow vs Low-brow chart in a 1949 issue of Life magazine.

You'll not see a happier pair of Go players than these.

That's the one. I typed in "go advertisement camel" and it did not find it. I guess I should have used "baduk"

I don't know for sure what you're trying to convey, but it could easily be construed as an unfortunate stereotype.

He may know how to hold his stones but no go player would use the bowl lid to hold his cigarettes.

Look on the other side of the table, there’s his bowl lid. Must be some other thing his cigarettes are in/on.
Greetings, Tom

Oh! You're right. All I saw was something which looked like a bowl by his left hand, which is where I always put my bowl (I'm left-handed) and assumed that is what it was.
