Ke Jie beat Tang Weixing in the final on Friday. As a result, Ke should meet Iyama (who beat Kono Rin in the Japan final last Saturday) in the match between the winners of this tournament in China and Japan. Last year the match was played in December. But the timing has varied from year to year.

Yay! I think that is Ke Jie's first title. And we are here at the beginning (ish).

Not sure how we missed it, but Ke Jie won this by resignation after killing a corner.

Does this count as a title, or is it more a curiosity?

I'm not sure if the matches between title winners have ever counted. If it does, it would make it easier to run up a count. Now a Ryusei winner would have a chance for another run off title, meijin winner, and I may be missing one more as well as the Agon Kiriyama mentioned here.

Asia TV has historically counted, but it's a 7 person format vs the 2-3 players.
