On Sunday, 2014-11-30, Japanese Go Legend Go Seigen died at the age of 100 “in Kanagawa Prefecture Odawara city hospital of natural causes.” (Google Chrome translation)

I imagine he is famous enough that it was widely reported there. Certainly a sad day for go players everywhere.

C'mon folks, let's be reasonable here. He became one of the greatest players in history, successfully straddled two deeply antagonistic countries, and lived to be 100... who's sad? Why are you sad? A wonderfully gifted life has come to a timely close in great comfort. Be happy for this man, be happy for all of us that we were fortunate enough to bear witness. Celebrate his life, don't mourn!

I am sad now that it is literally impossible to play him. (Even if I didn't have much of a chance before.)
