This movie looks interesting but I'm hoping it has a lot to do with the political side of the story and isn't just a Chess nerd-fest.

"fought his madness" sounds a bit over dramatic, trying to bring back memories of "a beautiful mind".
He ended super weird but wasnt that crasy at the time, just a bit on the egomaniac side

I've heard a lot of different things about Bobby Fischer but the one thing that turned me off the worst was when I learned that he hated women. I mean, what kinda' dude hates women?!?

The writers of the Old Testament and much of the New Testament.
(apologies for religious reference but Joel's other thread about Jesus winning by one point made this seem apt)

If you knew anything then you'd know that the writers you speak of loved, loved, loved women! Too much for God's taste at times, in fact.

There's a difference between loving horse riding, and loving horses.

Just saw Pawn Sacrifice, at the theater.
I think it's quite good, in its own right, regardless of the chess element.
But if you enjoy chess or Go, so much the better.
IMO no Go or Go-themed movies so far even came close to this level.
But I can also see why it wouldn't be a blockbuster, at least not in the US. Which is too bad indeed.

I don't play chess, but found this one entertaining, if a bit heavy handed. While it was based on a true story, I get the feeling it strayed from the truth a bit, perhaps to tie the story up more neatly.
It reminded me of a novel "The Queen's Gambit" by Walter Tevis from a few years ago -- that one is a fictional account of a young female chess player, but it held my attention far better.
