Bought it for about £3 with a free book on Chinese Chess. No wonder the stall-holder was selling it if he was trying to learn how to play Shogi from a Chinese Chess book...

The lines are lacquer, solid untreated wood, unknown maker.

The board measures about 23cm x 20cm.

Yeah! I'm not sure what the characters mean. I do know that Nintendo made a small shogi set in the past that looked similar.

One member of our GO club plays Shogi also. I am tempted to learn but I already play one game that has a limited player base in the west....... I do not need two addictions that I have few if anyone to play....
