Am I the only one annoyed with the E0journal format?

I have pretty much stopped reading the E-journal. The e-mail now comes and all it contains is links to other articles. It is no longer possible to open an e-mail and read all the latest news. Am I the only one who finds this annoying?

No, I agree. I sent an email about it, and got a slightly hostile reply. I also think the RSS feed sucks, because EVERY ARTICLE TITLE IS IN ALL CAPS. But they don't seem to understand why that would be an issue.

Perhaps they should use CSS style "text-transform:uppercase" in the emails and on the website, that way they could capitalize their titles normally

Yes, the new format triggered me ignoring them basically completely. The old format was much more enjoyable to read...

I guess we're making progress. When the E-Journal first started people were ranking on it because it wasn't a normal printed-on-paper magazine. Now it seems the electronic medium has been accepted and people are complaining about the format

The new format isn't so bad IMO but it could be made easier to navigate, say by using different colors or bold face type to make it easier to identify what's in the different sections.

I actually liked the old-fashioned format before they made the change. It was quaint, but I read it all. Now I don't read hardly anything.

I have to agree. The new format is quite offputting.

Maybe some wise head at the AGA could realize that change is not necessarily progress and go back to the prior, far superior format?

I like the format just fine.

I like the coverage even better.

i.e.

July 26: "Leland Yee came to the San Francisco Go Club on Sunday, July 18th to present Mingjiu Jiang 7P with a Certificate of Recognition from the California State Senate in honor of the Ing Chang-Ki Goe Foundation and their continued sponsorship of the World Youth Goe Championship."

Yes, I've found it unreadable for quite a while. In my case, I think it may be partly due to e-mail client setup -- when I got the newsletter, the pictures were in the wrong places, breaking up the text in difficult ways.

I no longer receive the newletter, but I do take the RSS feed from the AGA's news page. I simply use Google's newsreader. This works just fine for me.

I'm not a fan either, although I'll got further and say that the Journal as a whole has been declining for some years. It used to be full of interesting articles, stories, interviews and the quiz (thanks Keith!), and I thought that it helped bring us together as a community. These days it's just a handful of tournament reports recycled from other websites, and I don't think it's nearly as relevant.

Actually, I still would prefer a normal "printed-on-paper" magazine, but I doubt that that will ever happen. Preferring the old format for the E-Journal seems more like a "lesser of two evils" situation than anything else.

However, more than all of that, I miss the weekly go quiz. That usually brought a highlight to my week, even when I didn't participate.

I like the new format, because I can ignore the news I am not interested in. Not being American, it isn't every article that would catch my eye.

I was never a big fan of the E-journal.
The old format, or the new one...

I would like to see the info simply put on the website somewhere instead of emailing it left and right.
You could format it better then, and people could read it with their browsers rather than using email clients. Email can be a restrictive format, not well suited to such things. Unless you really wish to have control over who is reading and who is not.

So my preference would be - a nice webpage, and maybe an email notification new articles published.

Lol. Shows how much I know. ;)
Then why bother sending it to people on top of that?
