Also Park Junghwan is seeded as Korean ranking #1.
Wild card will be selected soon. (Probably Kim Jieseok.)

From the double-elimination preliminary: Wu Guangya (ranking #19)

Seven players still have chance to be selected from the preliminary.

Lee Sedol is selected as wild card.

It makes sense to me that Lee Sedol would be selected as wild card, even if he's below Kim Jiseok. Players with a history like him or Lee Changho (some years ago) are worth including as long as they are near the top, even if there's a player who's a little bit stronger at the moment. It's even easier when there's so little space between the two, like with Lee and Kim.

It seems to me that Japan has better chance of winning this cup after a long time.

Japan actually chooses the same players as last year, and I agree that this is their best line-up for the moment. Besides Iyama, the only one who could really compete against top Chinese and Korean pros, Kono Rin has fairly good international results (compared to Yamashita or Takao), and the 3 others are surely the best representatives of the next generation .

Korean and Chinese teams are still stronger, but it would be an interesting tournament for all the 3 countries, I hope.
