Thanks Yoyoma.
I've read the AGA area rule . I cannot find out any difference between AGA area rule and current Chinese rule.
but for AGA territory rule, it is difference from the current Japanese rule, especially in case of bend four and seki.

Yes you're right, AGA rules are area rules, with pass stones to allow players to count territory style.

Hi,
Besides the territory counting with pass stones, used under AGA rules, but unknown in chinese rules, there are minor differences.
In handicap games, White has one more point in chinese rules (she is awarded as much point as the number of handicap stones, while in AGA rules, she gets as much points as the number of moves that she missed while Black plays the handicap stones).
And the superko rule is not exactly the same.
Chinese : a board play may not repeat a position already encountered on the board. If an infinite cycle longer than a ko or a sending two-returning one occurs, the decision is up to the referee.
AGA : a board play may not repeat a position already encountered on the board with the same player to play.
Example :

Chinese rules : move 6 is illegal (it repeats the position after move 3).
AGA rules : move 6 is legal, because it is White to play, while after move 3, it was black to play. But move 8 is illegal (it repeats the position after move 4 with White to play).

AAah ! Shame on me ! Move 12 is a suicide. I didn't realize it.
It doesn't change the above explanations, though.

Does anyone know why the standard komi for area scoring is 7.5 while its only 6.5 (or sometimes 5.5) for territory scoring?

The integer part has to be in odd increments, because the difference between area scoring and territory scoring can differ by 1 point (which would otherwise, switch the result in a close game) -- not counting strange exceptions.

True. To increase the komi above 5.5, in territory counting, 6.5 is one step higher.
But in aera scoring, switching from 5.5 to 6.5 has very little effect. It can only affect the outcome of games with an odd number of intersections in seki.
In order to go one step above 5.5 in aera scoring, jumping to 7.5 is required to affect significantly the outcome.

Thanks for pointing out the slight difference between Chinese rule and AGA-area rule.
in this point , AGA-area rule looks like more reasonable although it is impossible for black to play this way.

What does this mean?
