Influence style against few stones of handicap?

Greetings.
I forgot how play against few stones of handicap (I lose systematically when I fight of 2 or 3 stones). I must say that I was a territorial player but in the last months I think that my style of playing was orienting of make influence. I am a kyu player (SDK in some go serves).
Is influence style bad to play against 2-3 stones of handicap? I don't know what to think, the first that I think that I am weak to hold a game playing to make influence, but I want ask it.
