Hikaru No Go is a cartoon about Go. Based on a comic book (manga) of the same name.

I think I've re-watched it five or six times. I'm watching it again, and I thought, why not let you guys know it's available for free on YouTube.

It's available with subtitles and also dubbed.

Is it official, or did a fan add it?

We have a policy of not linking to copyright infringing material. YouTube is an interesting case because it's so big, complies with DMCA notices, has automated tools for detecting infringing material, etc. I'd almost say if it's on YouTube for years that suggests benign neglect by the owner, but others might disagree.

The episodes I'm watching got uploaded in 2011.

I honestly think the owners just want to spread Go around the world, which is why it's still up.

All the other Japanese cartoons got removed, but not Hikaru No Go.

It often feels like this forum is populated by as many armchair IP-lawyers as Go players. Surely posting a youtube-link should be perfectly fine; let youtube and the world sort out what is and isn't legit.

It is a truly enjoyable series. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it.

I did miss that there's no link, so it probably doesn't cross the forum rules.

I didn't ever suggest that it was illegal to link to copyrighted material. I don't think it is, but my memory is fuzzy. It is against forum rules though. Feel free to argue about it, but I doubt you'll get more than a shrug (I'm not invested in the rule, even though I posted about it).
