Have you dreamt about go?

Have you dreamt about go after you have spent a lot of time studying, watching or playing go?

I know I do, and the dreams are not even helpful; they just get some local board positions' still images stuck in my mind without me remembering them in the morning.

The same was true about Tetris when I used to play that avidly.

I suspect that everyone who has even half-seriously studied the game has done so. Over 40 years ago I remember playing a game in my dreams and waking up the following morning and putting the entire game down on the board.

That's incredible!

I'm not sure. I know I've spent a lot of time envisioning moves, boards, etc, and that some of those times are in bed while trying to go to sleep. But I'm not sure if any of that has been dreams (I'm a bit of an insomniac, and often find myself wide awake in bed, not sure if I've been asleep for a little bit and just woken up, or if I've been on the verge of falling asleep).

Now that you mentioned it, maybe my frozen local position images were not really dreams either :\

Go dreams are perfectly normal and it seems many who seriously study get them. So don't worry about that.

Worry if the stones start muttering back at you while you are awake.

When spending a lot of time reading books or articles (i.e. studying) I did see random problems that my brain would concoct and I'd try and solve (i.e. daydreaming). Kind of like the Tetris effect. Never dreamt of it in my sleep though. I've solved cryptic crossword clues before in my sleep. Used to keep a pencil and pad by the bed just in case.

I went through a phase when this would happen to me while I was in the middle of a conversation. It was a bit distracting. :-)

I have had Go dreams recently.

I also used to see entire 3-round games of Street Fighter II behind my eyelids while drifting off to sleep (I played that a lot more competitively than I play Go, though).

Austria has a queen?

Where else would you play when giving 4 stones?

Can is it a example of "tetris effect"?

When I play a lot of games (or moves in tsumegos...), I have dreams.
