Where can I get boards for school club?

Hi all. I'm a high-school teacher starting a Go club (well actually we have a chess club that is expanding).

We need to get some Gobans. Ideally they would have a 9x9 board on one side and 19x19 on other. Plastic stones. We don't have a lot of $$.

Can somebody recommend a package (board & stones) and a reliable place to order from?

Chris

If you're in the US, I'd recommend checking with the American Go Foundation at http://agfgo.org/. They provide assistance to schools and such who have or are setting up go programs, and may be able to provide you with boards, stones, etc.

Very inexpensive go sets are available from GoGameGuru: https://shop.gogameguru.com/cheap-go-game-set/ At around USD 10.00 for a set consisting of board and stones and containers this is hard to beat. On the negative side, some will not like that everything is plastic. The board is a foldable vinyl sheet and the stones and containers are also plastic. Because of the vinyl board it will be necessary to put the board flat on a table top. But it is very inexpensive.

Expanding on skydyr’s comment … if you are NOT in North America you may want to check with whatever national Go association is yours. The German DGoB for example provided me with a »School Go box” with several 13x13 and 9x9 boards plus the stones when I instructed a regular “School Go Workshop” (extracurricular activity).
