here's a game i thought up to make go like nim, that is an impartial game.
the board is a 19x19 grid, with pieces, called stones, placed on the intersections one at a time by each player.
each side gets 90 white and 90 black stones.
the board starts off with two black stones, one on the 4-4 point, one on the 16-16 point, and two white stones, one on the 4-16, and one on the 16-4.
to capture a stone, you must surround it horizontally and vertically with the opposite color.
a stone of the same color placed adjacent to a neighboring stone, requires its intersections as well to be surrounded to capture all stones.
when you capture stones, all captured stones count as points for the opposite color, and are placed to the side as prisoners.
if an area of the board is surrounded by a single color, all empty intersections count as points for that color.
if a player places two stones of the same color consecutively, the other player may pass as his turn, and end the game.
the white stones gets 0.5 point komi.
there are two winning conditions, have the score difference be 0.5 and be the passing player, or have a different score difference and not be the passing player.
no additional stones may be added to the game of either color. if the stones run out the player who last played two stones of te same color in a row is the passing player. if neither side ever played two stones of the same color in a row, the game is a draw.
what do you think, sound fun?
