Hello, I'm a bit new to this forum and I was wondering if any stronger player is willing to review my game I played recently on OGS. I'm black in this game, thanks in advance!

Hi NS,

:b19: This bump is good for W. ( Not good for B. )

:w20: W is happy to stand up, to D9.

:b25: Hmm... The local vital points: F8 (hane), and F9 (extend) --
If B hanes F8, W may cut at F9, so you have to ready to fight.
If B extends F9, there's no cut.

:b35: You may not have time to reply. Maybe turn at H6.

:b43: How about K4 ?

:b47: Did you read out the capture race before you on decided this move ?
H2 kills W -- simple and good.

:b61: Did you read S3-S2-S4 variation ?

:b77: P8.

Hey Ed Lee,

Thanks very much for taking the time to comment on my game. I know my mid game isn't the best, reinforced by your advice, and I'm really bad with life and death. I think the real downfall in this game for me was the corner invasions. After losing both the bottom and top right, white is safely ahead in points.

Hi NS,

You're welcome. Just take it one step at a time.

With more reviews, some themes will emerge.
You mentioned L&D, yes; corners, yes.
The usual suspects: basic shapes, basic tesujis,
basic L&D, basic contact fights, basic fighting skills,
vital points, basic josekis, basic capture race, etc.
( I only looked at your game up to around :b77: -- because of time;
the rest of the game should include more of the above elements. )

Baby steps. :)
