We are several french users experiencing problems with kgs these days. Sometimes our moves take a lot of time to be registered. Today I even had a complete lock. First, one of my moves took 2 minutes to be displayed (as well as the apologies message I typed in the chat). Then, later in the game, kgs stopped answering for four minutes. I could not post a move, resign the game, write a message or even close the game window. No action worked. I had to close CGoban to exit.

Did you experience this kind of problems ?

I have encountered such problems, some times, in the past. I am from Europe too. But lately, I do not have such issues anymore.
The problem is probably on your side.
If it is persistant, you may want to consider complete deletion of both Java (beware of hidden files) and CGoban and then do a new and clean install.
You can do a pingtest or speedtest.

Hi, here are some detailed info.

The problem started around the 21/22 of september.

Three users of the french forum go-on are having the same problem on KGS since the same date : http://go-on.forumactif.com/t1806p100-k ... xion#41815

One of them reported the same problem affecting two other french players.
Another french forum user reported problems affecting his french opponents only, not himself, not foreign opponents.

The problem is the same with Windows 10 or Linux LMDE2.
The same with Oracle Java or IcedTea Java.
The problem seems limited to the french internet provider Orange.fr (who still works well for any other Internet connection than KGS). The french player who is not affected is using SFR instead of Orange to connect to the Internet.

Two players mentionned above solved the problem accessing KGS through a VPN.

In conclusion, the problem
-Is probably affecting half of the players connected in the french room
-Consists in packet losses / slow response time
-Occuring at a variable rate through the day, from once per hour to permanently
-Caused by a change that occured around the 21st of september
-The change is located either somewhere in KGS server, or in the french isp Orange.fr

No problem on my side today. The download of CGoban is ultra-fast, then no lag.
