A 6-round tournament for all amateur go playing university students (including part-time).

Held at Cambridge University, UK in July 9-15th 2018. There are 100 places available.

There is no entry fee, and all expenses (meals, accommodation, tourism) at the tournament are paid for by the Ing Chang-ki Foundation!

Alongside will be the semi-finals of the Changqi cup, where 4 of the best professional players in China will be competing. Chang Hao 9p and Yu Bin 9p will be there to give live commentary and also game reviews.

In total, we expect 8-10 pros to be around offering comments and teaching.

Registration and more details at
https://www.britgo.org/awcc

Hope to see you there!

What do you mean when you say that tourism during the tournament can be claimed on expenses? I blinked on reading that. Did you perhaps mean to say that you reclaim travel expense?

He means the the tourism day-trip arranged as part of the tournament schedule (to London) is paid for by them, as is common with such events as the WAGC you have attended. If you choose to go to London and buy a tonne of gold on that day instead and call it tourism you can't claim the money back.

Travel expenses to the tournament are not paid by Ing, though if you check the linked pages there are plans to provide transport from Heathrow airport to Cambridge.

P.S. I'll post on reddit.

Yes, thanks Uberdude. I don't mean any personal expenses or travel arriving and leaving the event, but I mean that the standard things at the tournament are all taken care of.

Meals are provided at the tournament venue. But if you want to eat somewhere else, you pay for that yourself. If you want to bring a guest, then finding accommodation for them is your responsibility.

Okay, that does make sense then. Looks like it should be a great event. Did Deepmind connections help bring it over to Cambridge?

Not instigated by DeepMind, but that AlphaGo comes from the UK and Hassabis/Silver went to Cambridge university, with its international prestige, meant the Ing organisers wanted to come here. After that dhu's efforts organising helped bring it here. . Also I expect going to new areas of the world to help spread Go probably played a part: the 1st two events were in Hong Kong and Beijing, then Toronto, then Bangkok.
