Making a quick follow-up move after a mistake or capture

Have you (or an opponent) ever made a fast follow-up move after an opponent captures a group or exploits a mistake? This seems to happen less frequently as players improve, but I don't think any level of player is immune.
It is an amusing phenomenon. I admit that I used to do this when I was frustrated sometimes

. It seems like people do this to show they don't care, or they saw the move coming. Perhaps they feel that, if they pause, they're acknowledging that the opponent exploited a mistake

? I've also seen where it goes back and forth a few times, with
each player making fast follow-up moves. Inevitably, someone goes down in flames.
Has anyone observed this at the dan ranks?

What is a "quick follow-up?"

Really, I mean just playing the next move really quickly after a group has been captured (or other significant event-like your opponent figures out a way to live in sente, when he should've died).

I don't see the point of the question...

Then that probably means you're option 2.

Yes, I have observed that kind of behaviour, sometimes even in myself.

Totally, did it the other day. Also, I've done the opposite, making a needless followup move after dooming living groups, just so I can breathe easy.

Very closely associated with tilt, but someone need not be to do it.

This happens all the time on servers like CyberORO and Tygem. Can't really explain why I've noticed a much higher frequency there than on servers like KGS, could be coincidental.

No, after my group dies I always pause and just cry for a few minutes.

I play mostly blits, so EVERY move is made very fast

When I make a mistake, and my opponent captures a big group of mine, I usually stare at the monitor for a few minutes before realizing how screwed up I am

So no, it takes me few minutes to recover before making the next move.
