Heat wave

It is 110.8 F degrees here in sunny southern California. I've covered all the windows, cranked up the A/C to 'max'. I even cleaned the filters a few hours ago to let it run at maximum efficiency. But it was never meant to handle heat like this. It has been running on 'max' since 8 AM, and just cannot keep up. The temperature in here is 85 and rising.
I'm going to go hide in the shower.

I took one last desperate chance, and steeled myself to go outside and look at the breaker box. One of the breakers labeled 'condenser' had tripped. ( it is a big A/C unit and has multple condenser circuits ) I reset it, and made it back inside alive.
The temperature inside has now gone back down to 84 F.

During all of this, my cat is sitting near a window that I couldn't block completely, on a black carpet, in the sun.

Texas is lovely today, at a high of 874 degrees. Sorry, I shouldn't brag, I'm just used to being the one who gets the heat while everybody else goes to the beach.

Waterloo Ontario has been quite chilly these past few weeks, and the forecast says the temperature is only going to drop. Plus, what can only be described as a hard mist is coming down out of the sky, making it feel even colder.

My brother has been telling me it was cool there (San Luis Obispo) while North Carolina had three straight months of insane weather. So until this lasts for y'all, I can't be too sympathetic.

...still, 110 is some serious bullpuckey, even if you don't have humidity.

I saw on the news that it hit 113 in LA yesterday - that's 45 C, which is the kind of temperature you see in places like Saudi Arabia. I don't know how people can stand it. I get woozy once it gets above 30...

Here summer has been long gone, although we've had some exceptionally warm days lately. The first nights with frost will soon be here (so I should clean the garage to make room for my car).

Turned it on here today; there was frost on the ground this morning, and it was down to about 18 on the ground floor of my house.

That's the price you pay for 350 nice days a year.

It is going to be mid-70's today, and the forecast is for the temps to be pushing 80 in the next few days. So the wife and I are going skiing up in the Big Bear mountains to cool off.
