"Log me on automatically each visit" actually doesn't?

Is persistent login working for anyone else? It looks like if I want to reply to something, I need to log in every time, even if I'm on the same browser a couple of hours since the previous time. Yes, I've checked the checkbox. It used to work, but has been broken for me since a couple of months ago.

I have had this problem in the past, but only on my iPhone, and eventually it led to me being shut out of the forum for "too many logins".

Kirby found the cause and fixed it, though I occasionally still get requests to login again, still on my iPhone only.

Periodic. I'd say perhaps once a month, but can't be sure about that as never bothered to keep a record.

I just had to log in (and recheck) the box

Works for me. I do clear my cache about monthly so I need to login again, obviously.
I remember having this problem on a web page of my company though.

On my PC this is browser-dependent. I mainly use Firefox and there is no problem. However, I also use Brave (a Chrome clone) and usually have to log in again. This is a little odd since Brave on my iPad stays logged in. Check your cookie settings. Is your browser deleting your cookies after each session on not.

Interesting. I'm on Firefox, on Linux. I'm not sure how to check cookie settings per site. Cookies as a whole are turned on, and persistent logins are working on other sites. Any tips?

Tomorrow I'll try Chrome and see if that makes a difference.

OK, I've got the reverse going on, persistent login is fine in Chrome for me but not working in Firefox.

And still crickets in terms of admins responding to bug reports in these forums. Everyone is on holiday?

There are only a few settings related to cookies in the phpbb control panel: cookie name, domain, and path. You can also turn on "secure cookies" for SSL sites.

I doubt that any of these settings are related to the issues folks are having here.

All of the admins, with the exception of Adrian, can only make board fixes or modifications through the phpbb software via the control panel there. Specific config on the filesystem or database is not something the admins have any control of in terms of modification.

So I don't think there's anything most of the admins can do. Even if I had access to the filesystem or db, I'm not sure what can be updated to fix the issue. I suppose we could do some sort of research and play with it, but again, we don't have many levers to pull through the admin cp.

Thanks Kirby for checking it out. I've got a workaround I can live with, and it doesn't seem to be affecting a lot of other people. I think the issues around not being able to upload files or download SGFs are much higher priority (but possibly not any easier to fix).
