Assassination Classroom

This is a question from my daughter. I will simply quote her.
My colleague recommended Assassination Classroom manga [暗殺教室], and I got a copy but I see it’s got a game of go design on the back. Have your go community heard of it? It’s not about go, but go must have some significance.
A quick trawl of the internet confirmed various connections, such a small board and a tsumego series. There also seems to be some link with Hikaru no Go.

The main character is some sort of octopus, and there is a go saying takan no yako that describes a bottled-up group with limbs sticking out.

But beyond that, I can't see the connection. Does anyone know?

(This may seem more appropriate on reddit :))

My second younger sister showed me the opoening of the second season of the Anime when it came out and it features 바둑 quite a bit with lyrics one might even say relate to it on a philosophical level.

Haha, wouldn't this be for Mainstream Go Sightings! This Manga and Anime is one of the popular ones

I've read the manga. It was quite fun, but I don't remember Go appearing.

Go appears more heavily in Nichijou (manga 2006 to present with 2015-21 hiatus, anime 2011). Several of the characters of that show form the intentionally baffling "Igo Soccer" school club. (eg. see https://www.youtube.com/@NICHIstuffs/se ... o%20Soccer)
