Hi, I thought I'd introduce myself!

I'm new to Go, and it's both an addiction and a frustration to me. I don't know why, exactly, I decided to start learning it. I wasn't inspired initially by Hikaru no Go -- I found that *later*. I used to play chess, but haven't played in years. Just one day, I said to myself, "SELF! Let's learn to play Go!" I guess I've always wondered about it, and being an Aikido student made it worse, since Morihei Ueshiba played Go. I can't study Aikido anymore since I'm disabled, so the board has to be my mat now.
I'm not big on anonymity, so right off, my name is Gwen. I'm on several servers as "quarktime", though I haven't played many games yet (with other people -- I've been playing against the computer). I guess it puts me in the "theorist" category, since I've been studying everything I can lay my hands on. When I decided to start, I found that there was a Go Center in Second Life, and started there. I play a game there from time to time, when someone is around. That led me to Sensei's Library, and KGS. I've been glad to find how friendly everyone has been. I'm eager to learn, and have been very happy so many have been eager to teach.
If anyone's curious, the name "quarktime" comes from a webcomic I make. I'm not going to say more than that, I'm not here to advertise it and it has nothing to do with Go.
