Life In 19x19

I have found that just because I have a '?' next to my name any time a regularly ranked player is losing to me he disconnects. Do I haver any recourse for these games. It really seems unfair. It has reached a point where I will pay people to play me. Anyone interested let me know.

If it is really too much of a problem, you may try playing the bots until you get a solid rank. They are free and they will not refuse to play you.

Have you tried automatch? In my experience there are very few escapers in automatch games.

what about just trying wbaduk?

You could also ask for games in the lifein19x19.com room. I doubt you're going to find a lot of escapers there. Some people may still get real disconnects though.

If I understand correctly, you lose immediately if you escape in an automatch game.

No you don't. The only difference regarding escapes between automatch and a normal game is that in a normal game when you leave during the first few moves the players can choose not to save the game and thus make it no escape. In ranked automatch games I have an escaper rate in the order of 1%. It's only much higher when I play unranked games against guests.

I've seen several escapers while using automatch.

On the other hand, while I've struggled to get a game with a "?" next to my name, I've never had a problem with opponents escaping. Losing to a "?" player doesn't hurt your rating more than normal. So maybe you just have had bad luck, and it could change.

why not try the ASR league:)

Note! As soon as Automatch finds an opponent, the game will begin; it must be played! If you close the game it will be counted as an escaped game, even if no stones were played!

That won't work. Rated games are not allowed there.
