They featured a Go board at one point I was so excited! xDD
AGA even posted about it.
http://www.usgo.org/news/2010/12/tron-captured/ So maybe you heard about it there already?
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE. When I said I was excited, haha, I meant it. I guess because I was one of the few people in that audience that knew what it was. That's always fun.
And it's such a pretty board... I like the real go ban. I would LOVE to have one. That would be completely awesome. Hey, maybe I'll even save up and buy one! But I would take the pretty, glowing, white one instead. Totally. So awesome. So stylish!! Wannnnnnt...!

I was excited to see it in the movie too. I actually went to the movie with my brother, he rolled his eyes when he saw it because he knew I would be talking about it for a long time after the movie lol...
Loved the movie btw...

I liked it as a popcorn movie but I think the original better, especially in how it dealt with technological questions of the day (monolithic control vs user control). I hear they are making a Tron 3 soon. Maybe they will explain why it was always raining on the virtual "grid"

The Tron moment was actually mentioned in the Go sightings thread about a month ago.

(Good movie, too.)

She was great in this movie. I loved her character! (AND she was dressed like an
anbu!) But my favorite character was Castor. He was SO AWESOME. I love flamboyant characters like him. He was SO entertaining! Man, Michael Sheen did a great job with him!!
I saw the movie twice. First in 2D then in 3D the very next day. I slept through it the second time, after Castor's part of the movie. It was after midnight and I hate 3D and I had just seen it. So yeah. I really loved it the first time but that's because I was having a lot of fun guessing what was going on and what was about to happen. The second time I couldn't really do that so there wasn't as much to enjoy. Plus it's really long. It was long even the first time I watched it! Sam is an OK character but not very special in any way. Nor was he just there to look yummy so I wasn't even into that.
I never saw the first movie but even *I* wish that the actual *TRON* (helloooooooooo) had played a bigger role.
The clothes, the style of the movie, the LIGHT CYCLES and the freaking DISC WARS (OMGGGG!!!) were awesome though! And Castor with his freaking DAFT PUNK club.

I saw it with my son and son-in-law. They commented that they liked Jeff Bridges' performance and it was then that I realized they had no idea why Jeff Bridges was in the movie...
Anyway, as with most remakes these days, this one didn't do it for me. In fact, I have yet to see a remake over the past twenty years that comes close to the quality of the original. Perhaps it's just an imprinting sort of thing. 1982 was a good year for SciFi movies. Besides Tron, there was, Blade Runner (the best SciFi movie ever made), John Carpenter's The Thing (a quality remake that rivals the original), E.T. (not a favorite of mine but a classic nonetheless), and Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan (the best of that series). Any others?

I might say the same if it were a remake. But it's a sequel, so there are supposed to be differences. Personally, this tron was my favorite movie in the last decade. Plenty of action but satisfying amount of philosophy. The scenery was art in of itself...
I went and saw it imax and 3D, and everybody that was with me knew my thoughts when the go came up. Pretty neat! I'm sure having the game around helped out all those years in there.

You're right, it was a sequel! What the heck was I thinking?

Oh well, never mind...
