What's the point of allowing attachments to messages?

First, you can show pictures without hassle of uploading them somewhere else and put the links between tags. It calls saving time

Second, if you want to store your game records on forum, just attatching it with your post =].

For graphics, sure, but I don't see the use of allowing other types of attachments, such as .doc files, zip archives, etc. It seems to me there's too much of a security risk with these types of files.

I hosted some of my software on gd before I moved it to sourceforge. It's not terribly good to host your software on a discussion board but it's very convenient.

The problem with that is that on most boards only registered users can download an attachment.
