http://www.ymimports.com/p-1118-shin-ka ... i-set.aspxI have eyed this table board for a few years now, and I have always wanted go bowls with a board like this. My parents just gave me the Christmas money they owed me and I made a purchase. I really hope I will enjoy this buy. Please if you own this set tell me if it was worth it, because I think it was.

xiangqi pieces are really cheap, you can probably buy a set for 5-10 dollars

Looks fine to me. When I finally ditch my roll-up vinyl board I'd love to switch to a table board around 2" - 3" thick, Chinese size, and not made of bamboo. So far, I've never seen such a thing, but I'm also not in a hurry. I keep an eye on the usual sites and eBay.

Looks nice. I have similar bowls and the same carrying bag. It's great when you're on the go - tuck the board under your arm and grab the bag and you're good to go. I also bought their $6 protective sleeve for my board. I was lucky enough to buy my board used and "pre-dinged", but it's nice not to have to worry about dust and worry even less about dinging the board when transporting.
Also, it looks like you got a good deal on the sweet spot of quality. That set should look/feel fundamentally better than a $50 set, but as you go up in quality from your set, you have to spend a lot for much less noticeable difference. And if you spend $500-$1000, you'd almost be afraid to take it down to play.

Thanks for comments. I do not plan on buying xiangqi pieces. I hope to use this board often.

A bit smaller than 2", but the price is good:
http://www.moriental.com/1-34-Torreya-W ... _1225.htmlTheir minimum order amount is $100 though, so you'd need to buy other stuff too, possibly a group buy.

I do like the can opener, knocked over coke can, and - are those odor eaters?! All of life's essentials, to be sure.
Reminds me of my days at Alabama School of Math and Science. We even had the same white painted brick walls in our dorms.

Lol My room was a little trashed when I put to go board on my desk, and no there were no odor eaters, but there is a plug in on two different walls.

I'm sure the pictures are nice, but the page takes ages to load with a slow line (1M ADSL). Please use smaller pics next time.
