ASR 2011 winter tournament!

Dear ASR tournament players, today, 1 february 2011, we kick off the winter tournament!

Our great programmer frango has made a special site for the tournament (which is still not completely done but it will be:)) which you can find here. (link)

I want to stress very much you abide ALL the rules in the tournament, because if you mess up 1 setting or don't say "ASR tournament" BOTH, it will not register as a tournament game!

You can find your pairing for the first round on the site so go there and get cracking!
It's nice to use this thread to post when you're going to play so we can watch if we want to:)

The first round lasts until the 14th, the 15th we will start the next round so finish BEFORE then! If you havent played one of the players has to resign from the tournament BEFORE the next round or BOTH players will be eliminated.

I wish you all the luck and have fun in the tournament!

You might want to update the rules, since this isn't mentioned anywhere.

I have a problem to contact my opponent for the first round of the tournament. He hasn't been online from Jan 25 both here and on KGS. Also, he wasn't active during the January League. Left him messages on KGS and here.

Due to this situation, I thought about figuring out a rule that will prevent such situations during the tournament (this is likely to happen every time a new Group starts its games in the tournaments).

My proposal is to oblige players to contact each other and set up the date of the game (not strict, but at least arrive to some approximate agreement) during the first week of the two-week time allotted for the round. If one of the players cannot be contacted during this time, and the second one is active and it is obvious that he tried hard enough to reach his opponent, he/she should be replaced by a player from the reserve list (hopefully there will be enough players). They will need to complete the game during the remaining week (a bit stressful, but possible).

Now, rereading and thinking a bit more i see that my proposal has its pitfalls, but it is good enough as a starting point to open a discussion.

if an opponent is not online during the time a round lasts then the player needs to contact me. This player then gets an automatic win. The reserve list is meant for players who actually drop out before the round starts.

On another note, you might have seen that the site has no results yet and thats because frango his harddrive crashed and he forgot to backup:( he told me he would be up to date when the next round begins so dont worry:)

Are the new pairings up elsewhere? Or are you going to extend the deadline due to the technical problems?

unfortunately markeemark you have to play within the set time available for the tournament so you have to play today or resign from the tournament.

the next pairing will be up tonight/tomorrow, we will see to it that its available a bit sooner next round:P
