Dum?

In the games I'm playing, it seems that black usually gets dum (komi); in some games there is no dum. This isn't a user-configurable option. Why is this?

It is configurable in the normal windows client (at least the Korean one). I do not know about the IPad client, but maybe they forgot to include this. When you first start a game, are you not prompted with some game settings (like time, for example)?

Maybe the people you are playing against are using a windows client and set the komi and you can't see it through the ipad client(?)...

It shows in the iPad client, but the menu for dum is dimmed, so I can never change it.

But it looks like the default is to give dum to black, not white - is this normal?

I'm not sure if this is the issue, but I know on IGS, for example, they use a more refined handicap system. Perhaps there is a similar method on tygem?

In my experience, komi is still given to white for even games by default. I'm not sure what's up with the iPad client.

One other thing you may run into on Tygem, which is really the only annoying thing that I've encountered personally that much, is when someone keeps offering to make the game "no result" when they are behind. With the windows client, this results in a popup asking if I'm okay with "no result". I wonder if this behavior is the same for the iPad client.

I had one game where someone offered a "draw." There is a button to this effect on the iPad client.

BTW, what's the deal when someone requests to score? Does this mean they want to see the score of the game while still playing? There's a "Score" button but I've never tapped it.

Thanks, I didn't realize that.
