Does anyone have any biographical details on our new YKNOT champion? What part of the country is he in, and what does he do? I don't recall seeing his name before.

He is a first time player in a USA tournament according the US Go Journal.

I had the same question, basicly

How can we go an entire tournament over 3 weekends, and not hear that there's a new "US" pro playing?

AGAGD says he lives in New York State. Not much else.

google brings back a few academic hits for that. The E-Journal should interview the guy so we get the truth I thought he was an AGA 6d and was surprised at how well he was doing, then today... oops, he was 2p

I would be curious to find out if Mr. Sun plans to participate in upcoming face-to-face tournaments such the US Open, NAM, or any of the regional east coast tournaments. Either way, it would be interesting to hear what attracted him to the YNOT tournament.

Was it just a matter of timing, or is there something more there?

It's an Internet tournament, so convenient, and there's a lot of prizes, so that could be it.

He's living in Troy, NY which is home to the Rensselaer Poly-technical Institute. Must be studying something interesting.
