This is not a typical tsumego problem. You are not supposed to "solve" it in the sense of a one time finish for black and white. Rather, the goal is keep training yourself to continually see more and more refined variations, each one better than the last. The goal is read as deep as you can, and as wide as you can, period. At the same time, you continually want to find the best result, and discard worse variations for better variations, but you also want to go all the way down the rabbit hole.

The end result is very similiar to doing lots of tsumego. Try it. It's fun!

Interesting study method indeed. May I ask where you found this method and this specific problem?

The shape is really bizarre, so it's hard to know what's best. I guess I would play like this.

Black connects his outside group, several stones awkwardly placed for white. He can also still save his :bc: stones and keep the corner with a move at 'a'.

Whit has great influence, and can still live in the corner with a move at 'a' later ([sl=tripodgroup]Tripod group[/sl]).
