Attack of the Bots???

We all know, and love bots.
Today is the second occurrence. I logged on to L19 and noticed not one, but two bots roaming around. Google and Yahoo Bot.
They weren't playing go, they were stalking us.
I tried but failed to PM each of them.

So I can see that Google Bot is online right now, as I type my message.
Can someone explain to me what that actually means?

It simply means that Google is currently updating its index of this forum. That's perfectly normal, the Google Bot is constantly surfing the web and updating its index.
These "xxx Bot" users are not really registered users of the forum. They are really just the same as someone browsing the forum while not being logged in, but the forum software recognizes them as who they are, and displays the information, just as it displays which registered users are online, and how many anonymous users.
